Grants Development Intern

Seeking a Grants Development Intern, which reports directly to the HHY Director of Community Relations.

Responsibilities include identifying and researching potential funding sources and making recommendations whether to apply in conjunction with the Director of Community Relations and pertinent administrative and program staff. Establish a record keeping system of all potential grantors, grants received, purpose, funding, reporting requirements and dates, and other relevant information. Write grants and/or coordinate the writing of some grants in collaboration with partnering agencies. Establish linkages and relationships with Foundations, government funding agencies, community groups, clubs, associations, corporations, individual philanthropists and others who provide grant funding opportunities that serve to develop or enhance programs and services affecting the lives and futures of youth being cared for by Hearts & Homes for Youth.

The qualifications for this position include Master’s or Bachelor’s Degree in a related field of study: Journalism, Marketing, Public Relations, Communications, Business, or Accounting. Two years in Resource Development or Public Relations preferred.

The required skills and competencies for this position include public speaking, writing (provide example), organization/records maintenance, computer literacy/software expertise.

Administrative Intern

Hearts & Homes is looking for an intern with filing and record-keeping experience to update our contact lists. This involves research, updating database records, and reaching out to current contacts to update information. This intern works under the direction of the Director of Community Relations and the Executive Assistant.

The qualifications for this position include communication skills, public speaking experience, record-keeping experience, and attention to detail.

Residential Counselors

Seeking dedicated Counselors who are energetic and prepared to work with youth ages 13-20, in a safe, secure, and nurturing environment. The Residential Counselors are responsible for the welfare and care of HHY youth. Responsibilities include implementing behavior management procedures, supervising educational and recreational activities, and actively participating with a Treatment Team. Additionally, Counselors are responsible for maintaining a clean and attractive home environment that is safe and supportive, models good hygiene, and supports the development of the residents.

The qualifications for this position include: an Associates or a Bachelor’s degree in a human services field and one year of experience working with youth; or a High School Diploma and two years of experience working with youth.

Hearts & Homes for Youth is hiring F/T, P/T, and relief staff to work shifts on weekdays, evenings, and weekends, at our locations in Anne Arundel, Baltimore, Howard, Prince George’s and Montgomery counties.

This position requires a criminal background check, Child Protective Services check, a valid driving record, a current driver’s license, and a car. Senior Counselors

Senior Counselors are responsible for monitoring program goals and adherence to procedures; assisting the Program Manager in hiring, evaluation, and supervision of staff; acting as a liaison between Counselors and the Program Manager; overseeing case management functions and maintaining continuity in the program; and performing delegated administrative duties. Must have strong organizational, writing, problem solving skills, and must have experience working with adolescents and/or youth. Senior Counselors must hold Baccalaureate degree in a human services field, or have two years post-secondary education at the Associate degree level, or hold a High School Diploma and have three years of experience working with youth in a group setting.
