RICHARD J. FERRARA passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 23, 2007. Rick was loved and admired not only by his family and friends, but also by the community at large. He was well known for his dedication, commitment and years of service to the Montgomery County government and the Housing Opportunities Commission

RICHARD J. FERRARA passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 23, 2007. Rick was loved and admired not only by his family and friends, but also by the community at large. He was well known for his dedication, commitment and years of service to the Montgomery County government and the Housing Opportunities Commission. He was also known for his support of and involvement in many charitable organizations including the Boys and Girls Homes of Montgomery County and the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts.

He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Susan C. Ferrara; two daughters, Marie S. Wheeler and Carol A. Ferrara; three brothers, Michael A. Ferrara, Frank J. Ferrara, and Joseph C. Ferrara and; and granddaughter, Claire E. Wheeler. He was preceded in death by sister Gloria J. Ferrara and parents Marie and Joseph C. Ferrara.

A memorial service will be held on October 20, 2007 at 9 a.m. at Saint Mary's Catholic Church, 520 Veirs Mill Road in Rockville, MD. A reception for close friends and family will follow with details to be announced. In lieu of flowers, please send donations in his memory to the Alzheimer's Association.  Their website is at  www.alz.org .
