June 15, 2007 couldn’t have been a better day for a golf tournament. On this slightly overcast (no annoying glare) and unseasonably cool (no sweat or sunburn) Friday morning, golfers lined up for an 8:00am shotgun start at the USEC Golf Tournament. As starting holes were assigned, snazzy red golf carts took off for the rolling hills of Little Bennett Golf Course. The morning was serene and deer could be seen gamboling across the greens. Suddenly, a voice cried out, “FORE!” (Or was that “FOUR” …as in 4 over par???) Soon other voices joined in and laughter could be heard throughout the course. A voice somewhere around the ninth hole was heard to say, “The worst day on the golf course is better than the best day at work.” (Of course, that guy didn’t work at Hearts & Homes!!). Back in the Clubhouse, everyone enjoyed a summery lunch and awards were given. The finale of the day was the presentation of $2,000 to the children of HHY, a gift made possible by USEC, who donated each staff member's entry fee to HHY. We offer each of them our heartfelt thanks for their generosity.
