Foster Care Stories
Story
#1:
When I decided to become a foster parent, I had no idea of what to expect. I
approached this journey with much trepidation, but with a very positive
outlook. I knew in my heart that I wanted to share my blessings and give back
to my community by being able to make a difference in a child’s life. For me,
it did not matter what race or religion my future child was, my desire was to
just have a child that I could help and introduce to a loving environment.
Hearts & Homes For Youth made this possible. I have been a foster parent
now for several years with HHY, and have opened up my home to five young
ladies. It has been an experience I would have never wanted to miss. All of my
expectations were met as a foster parent. Yes, sometimes there was hard work
involved and frustrations overcome, but it was all worth it. I would certainly
characterize my experiences and time as a foster parent as one journey I could
not have missed. Success is relative, depending on how you look at it and what
you value most. My time as a foster parent is definitely my success story.
Sincerely,
L. F. Spraggins
Story #2:
Hearts & Homes For Youth has been our second family for over eight years.
My husband and I have fostered over 10 children during this time. Some of the
children have been challenging, but our love and guidance has made a difference
for the children.
We have adopted two of our children and are in the process of adopting our third
child. We have seen staff and foster families change within the program over
the years, but through it all we have remained a family. Our family has
received much support, knowledge, compassion and dedication from the program’s
staff and foster parents.
It has been and always will be a pleasure and honor to be part of Hearts &
Homes For Youth family.
