Richard J. Ferrara Boys’ Therapeutic Group Home
The Richard J. Ferrara Boys’ Therapeutic Group Home is located on a lovely wooded lot in Derwood, Maryland. The home houses young men who struggle with significant mental health challenges and splintered family relationships. This peaceful community setting helps to normalize the daily interactions of the youth. The young men receive a cadre of services that assist in supporting and developing the clients. The highly trained staffs provide 24 hour supervision and extensive case management for each client.
POPULATION SERVED
Eight adolescent males ages 13-17 from throughout the state of Maryland
SERVICES OFFERED
- Program uniquely tailored to meet the needs of adolescent males
- Individual and group therapy; building strength of personal identity, pride, self-esteem and confidence
- On-site psychiatric evaluation and ongoing medication evaluation
- Educational advocacy and support; tutoring and college prep
- Employability development and placement with potential career development
- Case management and coordination for health services, substance abuse treatment, family therapy and additional necessary services
- Therapeutic recreation and constructive use of leisure time
- Life skills training to support self sufficiency and independent living
- Length of stay is typically long term (9-24 months)
