Planting the Seeds of Change
Hearts & Homes End of the Year Campaign 2021

October 11, 2021

Dear Friend,

“I never thought I could change until now. Being here has helped me feel supported, and I know people actually care about me,” said Michelle after coming to our therapeutic group home as a result of being a victim of sex trafficking. She felt safe and began to trust the adults in her life. She even obtained gainful employment, which she proudly shared as she told her story! Michelle thought she was destined to being a victim for the rest of her life, but she slowly let down her guard and shared her story. Michelle would potentially have experienced homelessness, incarceration, addiction and was at high risk for suicide had it not been for the services provided by our incredible staff at Hearts and Homes for Youth.

I decided to forego a gala this year because of the uncertainty of COVID and to protect everyone’s safety, but we need your support now more than ever! The youth entering our programs have far more complex mental health challenges, and we are facing a staffing crisis like many others in healthcare fields. Every dollar counts for us to continue providing the critical services needed in our community. Our families and youth are even more vulnerable as a result of the pandemic, so now is your opportunity to dig deep and donate to a meaningful, impactful charity and make a difference in many lives!

In lieu of our annual gala donations we are asking our supporters to give to our 2021End of the Year Campaign, and I guarantee every dollar will go to good use to support the young people and children in our care.  We have served over 41,000 young people in the past 50 years and plan to continue to do so for the next 50 + years, but we cannot do it without you!

Thank you for your consideration,

Chloe Bernardi, LICSW, LCSW-C

Hearts & Homes for Youth

Who are the youth we serve?

The youth and families we serve have faced considerable challenges throughout their lives including extensive trauma at home and in their community. Our families need our support as they don’t always have the resources needed to safely support their children. As a result of barriers, our young people have significant mental health diagnoses and considerable setbacks in their day-to-day functioning. It is not uncommon for our youth to experience anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, PTSD, and a general mistrust of others, which is why our supportive services are so critical to help them begin their journey of healing.

We have 3 group homes, 2 therapeutic group homes, a therapeutic foster care program, and foster care and independent living programs for young mothers.

We provide the following services to 50 plus children in our care each day:

 Trauma/abuse focused treatment
 Educational and job search support
 Individual, group and family therapy
 Onsite psychiatric consultation
 Substance abuse treatment
 Grief and loss counseling
 School enrollment and advocacy
 Healthcare
 Anger and behavior management
 Life skills training

Will you help us plant the seeds of change?

Your help enables us to provide a safe environment, the best services, positive opportunities, and comfort to the youth in our care.
